The Birth House
In today's society where birth is often treated as a medical procedure, midwives are experts in providing peaceful and undisturbed births. But what is an undisturbed birth? It's a birth that takes place in a low-tech environment, in a space where the mother feels safe and comfortable, surrounded by trusted individuals who offer support. In such an environment, the mother's body can relax, and her birthing hormones can flow freely, without being inhibited by stress hormones, allowing her to have regular and strong contractions, which bring her baby out naturally. The mother has the freedom to move around, and is encouraged to eat and drink throughout labor. After giving birth, her baby is placed on her chest immediately, and the two are given space and time to bond and breastfeed. This type of birth is facilitated by providers who only intervene when necessary, and who have expertise in and trust the natural birthing process.
